From ArticleWorld

Food safety is a general term that refers to the safety and freshness of the foods we eat. There are laws, organizations and personal practices that all aid in keeping our food safe. Inspection services inspect everything from the livestock that will later be used for meat, to the areas where food is prepared, to the finished products. Freshness dates on food packaging help the consumer to determine food safety. There is even a casual ‘’five second rule’’ that many people abide by in their homes. (If it falls on the floor, but is picked up within five seconds, it is by many, deemed safe to eat.)
