Dental equipment is best described as those things an individual uses to maintain good oral hygiene, clean breath and to keep from developing plaque on the teeth or dental caries. The mainstay of dental equipment is the toothbrush that uses friction to brush the surface of teeth and between the teeth to provide removal of bacteria, food and other debris from the teeth. Toothpaste adds abrasives, cleansers and whiteners as well. Dental flossing is recommended by the American Dental Association as an adjunct to brushing one’s teeth at least once per day.
