Wet clean

From ArticleWorld

Wet cleaning is an environmentally safe, non toxic, high volume method of cleaning clothes using water and detergents, as opposed to dry cleaning which uses toxic chemical solvents. Wet cleaning is done through the use of large computer controlled machines which can be programmed to adjust for a fabric's specific needs. Trained cleaners using modern wet cleaning machines can clean between 30 to 100 percent of all types of garments that can be dry cleaned. Because not all garments that are dry cleaned can be wet cleaned, wet cleaning is less popular. However, continuing research in this field will help popularize wet cleaning and increase the percentage of garments that can be practicably wet cleaned.

Advantages

  • Safer for the environment: Wet cleaning does not use harmful chemicals (such as perchloroethylene) which are used in dry cleaning and presents less risk to human health and the environment. Only non-toxic substances such as water, biodegradable soap and steam are used.
  • Soft to touch: Clothing such as sweaters feels soft and fluffy to touch after being wet cleaned.
  • Safe for clothing: Wet cleaners using advanced machinery can be trained to avoid problems that adversely affect fabrics.
