US Airways Group operates on a single holding pattern in which its subsidiary airlines jointly operate, under its banner. The company owns as well as carries out its operations with other associated companies. The US Airways Group operates in 47 US States as well as other international hubs.

History

The US Airways Group had its Headquarters situated at Arlington County, Virginia. As time had proven tough for the company & its subsidiaries, in a span of 3 years the company had to file for bankruptcy for the second time. The day was 12th Sep. 2004. Due to the merger of the American West Holdings Corporation, having its base in Tempe, Arizona, with the US Airlines Group, the company was saved from bankruptcy. The day of the merger was on the 27th Sep.2005. The name of the new company was retained as the US Airways group and the different flyers schemes were also kept intact. Both companies which had very strong presence of operations, thus their joint destinations covered the West & North East of the Americas as well as that of Europe and the Caribbean.

The US Airlines Group consists of the subsidiary airlines.

  • US Airways, Inc., having two divisions consisting of MidAtlantic Airways and the US Airways Shuttle.
  • Piedmont Airlines, Inc.
  • PSA Airlines, Inc.
  • America West Holdings Corporation.
  • America West Airlines, Inc. with its America West Vacations division.

The Fleet consists of around 504 different types of aircrafts, but a majority of them are Boeing manufactured or Airbus manufactured planes used both for passenger traveling or air cargo transfer purposes.
