The Legendary Pink Dots are a British rock band formed in London in the late 1970s. They have started out as a post punk band, but are one of the bands that is literally indefinable as their style is in constant flux, but not album to album like most bands would, but more song to song.

Their popularity and influence
They have enthralled countless with their ability to entrance countless with their versatility and talent. There may be no other band that has influenced others not by their style, but by their way of presenting multiple styles within one album and to not be bound by categories.
Focus
The band has, as its complete focal point, lead vocalist Edward Ka-Spel. Ka-Spel and Phil Knight are al that is left of the original members of the band.
Move
In 1984 the band moved itself to Amsterdam which led to a radical in the original lineup, with the original bassist Roland Callaway leaving at this time.
Over time
Their music has evolved organically over time and it consists of such an array of styles that easy categorization into a single genre heading is impossible at best.
Their sound has often been described as a melding of psychedelic rock, industrial, experimental, synth-pop and avant-garde. Some have compared certain of their works with the music of bands like Pink Floyd and Can. Yet other songs of theirs sound similar to a mesh of VNV Nation and Download.
Since their formation they have released over 40 records and continuously tour the world.
Tear Garden
A number of members of the band have also collaborated with Skinny Puppy's cEvin Key, forming a side-project that has been named The Tear Garden.
Key also appears on the 1994 album 9 Lives to Wonder.
Outlook
Much of the music that the Legendary Pink Dots have done is played in a number of underground dance clubs and is still regarded as premiere music to those that know it well. Tear Garden as also built a strong following that has been worthy of notice.
