Royal Monceau

From ArticleWorld

The Royal Monceau, located in fashionable Paris, is one of the grandest non-palace hotels to be found in the City. Being a relatively young hotel it lacks the status of the older hotels but what it lacks in years it makes up in style and sophistication. It is a favorite of the hip and the happening, famous movers and shakers who like to come back to Monceau for its comfortable rooms and easy atmosphere. Stars like Michael Jackson, Robert De Nero and Madonna like to stay here incognito as do new emirs and old counts. The hotel’s 203 rooms including 45 suites have recently been refurbished and renovated to redefine luxury.

The hotel is situated at a short distance from the Champs Elysees and the Faubourg Saint Honore, in the center of the haute couture fashion and shopping districts of Paris.

History

The hotel came into being in 1928, during what was later termed as the ‘Roaring Twenties,’ a time when everything seemed larger than life. Compared to other grand hotels of the City, Monceau, at 78, is still very young. Still, it has managed to be a part of history. On May 14th, 1948, it was here in The Royal Monceau that Israel was declared a nation. This momentous decision was taken in the ‘Salon Louis XVI’, which is now a popular restaurant of the Hotel. Bruno Cirino, the head chef of the two restaurants - Le Jardin and Le Carpaccio - has recently been awarded one star in the Michelin guide.

Famous guests

Joseph Kessel, General Eisenhower, Robert Di Niro, Charles Aznavour, Madonna, and Michael Jackson are some of the famous people who have stayed in the Monceau.
