Red Lobster
From ArticleWorld
A United States restaurant chain, Red Lobster specializes in a variety of steamed, boiled and fried seafood. Most of the seafood used by Red Lobster has been previously frozen, and the restaurant caters to the mid-level, casual dining market.
Growth
Since 1968, Red Lobster has gone from one single restaurant in Lakeland, Florida, to over 600 restaurants in the United States and Canada. Helping facilitate this large growth, Darken Restaurants took over Red Lobster, as well as another mid-level restaurant, the Olive Garden.
Services
In addition to traditional, sit-down restaurants, Red Lobster has a website that offers online ordering of fresh seafood, to be delivered to your door. Shipped overnight, everything from fresh Maine lobster and North Atlantic Sea Scallops, to complete meals that come with a reusable cooking pot can be ordered online. Gift certificates for specific items, or more flexible Red Lobster gift cards may be purchased online as well.
Conservation
Red lobster assures the public that all possible measures are being taken to protect sustainable egg production for North Atlantic lobsters. Conservation is currently being practiced, by safeguarding the trapping of very young lobsters. Egg-bearing females are also protected, and if caught, must be returned to the sea. Lobster traps must have escape vents to allow small lobsters to exit the trap, while it is still on the bottom. Lobster traps must also have biodegradable escape panels, which will create an opening and neutralize the fishing potential of a lost trap. Lost traps then become a habitat, providing shelter without risking entrapment.
