Pine oil

From ArticleWorld

As the term implies, pine oil is a special type of oil obtained from pine parts (cones, needles and twigs). By going through a controlled process of steam-distillation, it will be then be used in aromatherapy, cleaning products, lubricants, pleasant sents in bath oils and more fields. Sometimes you find pine oil being used in massage oil, disinfectant or as an ingredient for homeopathic medicine products.

Disinfectant

The most useful property of pine oil is its phenolic disinfectant capabilities. It basically destroys several bacterial strains and even some viruses. Non-enveloped viruses or spores cannot be attacked which makes pine oil not that popular among manufacturers. A common tendency has been noticed in the combination of the ingredient with other compounds that can wipe out what it can not. The biggest advantage of using pine oil (as opposed with other components) is the price. It’s very cheap to obtain and it’s also available in many parts of the world. By combining that with a low toxicity, a low corrosion level and limited persistence, it’s a good and cheap product.
