North American Hockey League

Teams in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) play in small market cities from Ohio to Texas to Alaska and many points in between. The 28 teams in this Junior A league are meant to help amateur players under 20 years old develop their skills for possible international or professional play when they are older. Teams are divided into four divisions, each with five teams. At the end of the season the top teams play for the Robertson Cup, the league championship.

Teams

The North American Hockey League is made up of teams from a variety of small cities across the country. The teams include:

  2. Billings (MT) Bulls
  3. Bismark (ND) Bobcats
  4. Bozeman (MT) Icedogs
  5. Cleveland (OH) Barons
  6. Fairbanks (AK) Ice Dogs
  7. Fargo-Moorhead (ND) Jets
  8. Helena (MT) Bighorns
  9. Mahoning Valley (PA) Phantoms
  10. Minnesota Blizzard
  11. North Iowa Outlaws
  12. Santa Fe (NM) Roadrunners
  13. Texarkana (LA) Bandits

Traverse City (MI) North Stars

  1. Wasilla (AK) Spirit
  2. Wichita Falls (TX) Wildcats
  3. and the team representing the U.S. Team Development Program.

NAHL feeds NHL

A number of players played in the NAHL before moving on to the National Hockey League (NHL). At the top of that list would be NHL great Eric Lindros, who played for the Flyers, Rangers and Maple Leafs. NHL players who are grads of the NAHL are:
