From ArticleWorld

The Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival takes place in Middlewich in the town of Cheshire. It is held in the month of June. The festival celebrates the industrial heritage of the town when canal boats were used for transporting coal and other raw materials for salt production. This festival was first organized by members of the Middlewich Paddies. Statistics reveal that more than 30,000 visitors come to attend the festival during the weekend along with 400 boats.

The Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival was first held in 1990 and has continued annually since then. However, the 2001 event was cancelled due to the Foot And Mouth disease. The festival is celebration of folk music and canal (boat) events and highly regarded in the folk circuit.
