Hummus is a part of two nation’s cuisines .It is a part of Jewish and Greek cuisine. Hummus is a dip that is made from chickpea paste and sesame seed paste. It is thought to have originated in the Middle East. It is usually scooped up with flat bread but, hummus is used with tortilla chips as well. It is a popular breakfast food particularity when it is served with another dip called Ful which is made with crushed fava beans. Hummus is also used as an appetizer dish that goes with many main courses. Hummus is very cheap to make and it can be created with either canned or dried chickpeas. Dried chickpeas are usually soaked in water overnight and then simmered in the water for about an hour or two. Olive oil, lemon juice, and paprika can be put in hummus. Tahani is sometimes put in hummus or it is substitute for peanut butter by Americans. The taste of this type of hummus is different from traditional mid eastern hummus. Hummus is very nutritious because it contains much protein and iron. It is also suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Hummus is also eaten with pita bread by schoolchildren in Israel for lunch.
