How to heelflip

From ArticleWorld

A heelflip is a similar trick to a kickflip. The main difference is that you have to use your heel to make the flip rather than your toes, and everything is more difficult to do backwards.

Method

  1. Stand as you would for an ollie, but keep the toes of your front foot slightly over the edge of the board.
  2. Perform the usual ollie jump, trying to get as much air as you can. Before you reach the top of your height, strike out with your front foot, trying to catch the board with your heel.
  3. Strike away and down, so that the board pulls away from you, and lift your foot so that the board floats under it.
  4. Keep your legs tight into your body, so that the board has plenty of room to spin around.
  5. After the board has done ¾ of its rotation, bring your foot back to catch the board.

Hints

  • Try and land the jump with both feet.
  • If you miss the board when you land, try to keep upright and parallel; don’t allow your weight to move away from the centre of the board.
  • You will need to look down at the board when you first attempt this trick, but you try not to do it too much, as it will put you off centre.
  • Wear protective gear: helmet, knee and elbow pads, the lot. You are almost certain to miss at some point and fall down.
