To Be Confident and sure of yourself you require to be motivated and inspired and have the will power to conquer your fears. Gaining confidence is not difficult and has the snowball effect, once you get some it becomes easier to get some more. If you need help, take a look at the suggestions below.

  1. The first rule is to try and get over your shyness. Don’t remain at the fringes and at the back of crowds, instead try to become a part of the activity and centre of attraction.
  2. Conquer a fear. Fear is a both a powerful and a weakening emotion and conquering it will give you confidence.
  3. Believe in yourself. Don’t write yourself off without trying first. Set small goals each day and try to achieve them.
  4. Get to know one new person each day and talk to them. If you find that people do not shun your advances (as most will not) it will give you confidence to talk and get friendly to more people.
  5. Smile at strangers and laugh often, at jokes, at situations, and at yourself. Having a sense of humor never harmed anybody.
  6. Make a list of situations that make you shy and imagine yourself tackling them with confidence. Do it everyday and with as many situations as you can imagine. It will help you overcome your shyness.

Do’s

  • Be patient. Your lifetime of shyness will not go away in a day or a week. It will take a few months, so give yourself time.
  • Be honest enough to seek professional help if you think that you cannot cope with the situation by yourself.

Don’ts

  • Don’t start off at the deep end by trying to conquer your biggest fear. Start small and build up as you go along.
  • Don’t overdo things, don’t go from being boring to a boor. Know when to draw the line and stop making a fool of yourself.
