Resolution

There is a psychological component whereby it becomes obvious that Marie is the real killer. She is the truck driver. Marie is a psychopath. The truck driver persona is her alter-ego.

Clues:

1. A dream of being chased(Marie).

2. Alex’s fear of Marie.

3. Marie has bloody feet.

4. The killers hands are female hands.

5. Marie claims the killers ask why she cares so much about Alex.

All of these events were taking place in Marie’s mind. She has a split personality. She is in love with Alex. The whole murder/hostage scenario was contrived to save Alex and prove that Marie loves her.
