A woman who had adopted four troubled youth is savagely murdered in a store. He four sons return home for the funeral and embark on a course of vengeance to find the killers. It is a path that leads to corruption and the relationship between criminals and the police in Detroit.
Plot
Evelyn Mercer(Fionnula Flanagan)is the adopted mother of four sons who are black and white. She had adopted them when they were only children. The boys, Bobby(Mark Wahlberg), Angel((Tyrese Gibson), Jack(Garrett Hedlund)and Jeremiah(Andre Benjamin) had tough beginnings, but she gave them love, care and support. They’re very devoted to her.
She is killed in a brutal murder in a convenience store. None of her sons believe it is as simple as it appears. They conduct their own investigation to get the truth. The can’t accept that it was just a robbery gone wrong.
Resolution
The brothers plan to do whatever is necessary to root out the killers. They forge a bond, a unit.
Each of the sons show different approaches to solving the murder based on the different sides to their personality.
They all sense that the police investigation is glossing over some very important details. They discover widespread corruption on the part of the police and a crime ring in the community.
