Discounts and allowances
From ArticleWorld
Discounts and allowances are provisions made to reduce the price of a purchase. The purchase could be that of a product or of a service. These discounts and allowances are usually offered to regular wholesale buyers as well as preferred costumers. They also may be given to low income people in need.
One time discounts vs. cumulative
Not only are discounts and allowances given to people that are long time customers or wholesale buyers, but they are also given to those who buy in larger quantities. This is called a one time discount, and the greater the bulk purchase, the larger the discount usually is.
The cumulative discount, which is usually characteristic of the discounts given to long time buyers, is a certain percentage off the price of the entire order history.
Low income allowances
Some sellers will give both of the above kinds of discounts and allowances to their customers. Another type of allowance/discount is one that is receiving a certain item free along with other items paid for. Furthermore, sometimes allowances and discounts are given to those in need, such as those who live below poverty level.
Discounts and allowances are often given to students as well, especially those who are working their way through college. They can receive allowances and percentage off meals at restaurants, workout centers, bookstores, laundry services, and more. This will help make it possible for them to make it through school.
Often times those with low income or those with kids receive certain kinds of discounts and allowances as well. Housing vouchers, food coupons (a.k.a. food stamps or food cards) are often given to people who have little or no income. These are often called allowances, because they are given to people to receive a portion of their living expenses and food for free.
In conclusion, discounts and allowances are not only for the use of promoting an item, but they are also used for the common good. That common good is to help people in need.
