Dima Bilan is an aspiring Russian artist that has already won a number of awards and nearly won the Eurovision contest of 2006, coming in at second place. He is currently finishing his third professional album as a pop artist.

Childhood

Dima Bilan was born on 24th of December, 1981, in Karachay-Cherkessia. When he was six years old, his family moved to Kabardino-Balkaria where he went to school along with his sister. He in the mornings he was involved in performances, sang songs, and reciting poems.

Early Years

He graduated from Genesis Musical College with a classical vocal performer degree. Dima made his musical debut when he reached 4th place at the "New Wave" Festival in 2002.

In 2003, Dima Bilan released his debut album titled "Nochnoy Huligan," which included covers of "Caruso" by Lucio Dalla and "Fever" by Elvis. Just a year later, he released his successful single "Na beregu neba," which was also the title of his second album.

Eurovision attempt

Dima Bilan attempted to reach Eurovision previously with the song Not That Simple in 2005, he finished in 2nd place within the Russian national selection. The video for the Russian version of the song was the most expensive to date in the history of Russia's music industry.


Awards

Dima has been winning numerous awards over the past year and has been consistently gaining momentum. This was just the tip of the iceberg for what was to come for him.


Eurovision 2006

Dima had made it all the way to the end of Eurovision, and wound up in second place due to him competing against the monstrous Finish band, Lordi. Dima seems motivated to continue in his career and make up for this shortcoming.

Outlook

With three albums, five singles, and a bunch of awards under his belt, it seems that Dima has a bright future and his motivation and passion make this that much more possible.
