A crumble is a dish that comes from Great Britain. It is a dessert that contains a large variety of fruit in it. On top of the fruit is a crumbly mixture of fates that are usually comprised of butter, flour, and sugar. The crumble is baked in an oven until the top of it is crisp and golden brown. Crumbles are often served with custard, ice cream, or sherbet. A crumble is thought to be a warm way to end a meal especially lunch or dinner. Some fruits that can be used to make a crumble include apples, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, peaches, plums, gooseberries, and rhubarb. The topping for a crumble might have oats, ground almonds, and some other nuts. In addition, a mixture of milk and vinegar is added to give the crumble a more elegant look and flavor. Brown sugar is sometimes sprinkled on top of the crumble caramelizes when it is baking. Some recipes call for the crumble topping to be made from broken biscuits. In the United States, biscuits are called cookies. It can also be made from cereal but that isn’t tradition. A dish like a crumble can be made without sugar and with a filling of beef or lamb. In America, there is a similar dish called a crisp. A crumble is also like a cobbler which is popular in the United States as well but the topping of the cobbler is less crumbly than a crumble.
