Collective Soul is an alternative rock/post-grunge band from Stockbridge, Georgia. Throughout the 1990's and well into the 2000's they have enjoyed major commercial popularity on alternative rock and mainstream rock radio as one of the most successful rock bands in the 1990’s.

Style

Ed Roland is the base composer and singer for the band. They have composed hook-laden lush melodies on top of heavy fluent guitar riffs. Their style is reminiscent of classic rock and hard rock artists from the 70's and 80's. Some of their main inspirations and influences are Elvis Presley, Elton John, The Cars and The Beatles.

Some have labeled Collective Soul a Christian rock band, a genre label the band has repeatedly denied. They do, however, admit that their lyrics are often spiritual in nature.

Beginning

Ed Roland has created the bulk of their music and had known all the other original band members since school days. He made a batch of work that was both made into a demo and also into Hints, Allegations & Things Left Unsaid. This one album not only was a hit but started their run as one of the top bands in the Billboards. Shine hit number one and laid the groundwork for their future music.

Collective Soul has made numerous hits since their first had is still making music this year and is slated to tour as well. They have been one of the strongest opening bands, and are now one of the premiere front running headline bands in the United States.
