Odd marketing tactics

Their distribution and marketing techniques were odd at best. They sometimes would produce only a hundred copies of an album, making them rare collectors' items among extreme devoted fans. Including things such as "art objects", this could range from various blood stains and sigil-like autographs in the packaging of these albums. They would lay claims that this made their work more personal for the true fans.

Coil’s varied projects

Coil typically separated their work into numerous side projects and published these works under a magnitude of different names. Coil also contributed some music to two films by Derek Jarmin: Blue and The Angelic Conversation.

Making tit right

Critics had consistently accused Coil of price gouging and related this to their odd antiquity habits. In 2003, Coil began re-releasing many rare works, mostly remixed, into general circulation. These were also a means of having the music available and to alleviate the aggression caused by the critics.

The End

After twenty three years of existence, the band came to a sudden end when Jahn Balance fell from a second floor landing in his home killing him. The planned tour was cancelled and all the projects that were being worked on where released under John’s name only since Peter viewed that coil died with the other half of the band, John dying. The material was released after a time of mourning could be given. This would be so that Peter could recuperate from the loss, and able to determine the quality of the work that was to be released.
