From ArticleWorld

The wrist is the joint that connects the primate (including human) forearm to the hand. The joint itself is made from portions of five bones, including the distal radius, the distal ulna, the navicular bone, the triquetral bone and the lunate bone. The wrist can move in essentially all directions, a movement called circumduction. Several ligaments surround the joint and provide structural stability. On the volar (palmar) surface of the wrist the nerves and blood vessels travel in tunnels protected by the supportive ligaments of the wrist.
