Techno music is a style that originated in the city of Detroit during the mid 1980’s. It is heavy in the synthesizer style and in electronic sounds. It is a 4/4 beat and at about 135 beats per minute. It is a lighter and more dance oriented style that caught on quickly and was one that was ideal for dance clubs to promote. It has a lot of ties to new wave, electro, funk, and has a number of futuristic overtones.
