Synthpop came from the ashes of punk rock. It is a style that uses the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. Some of the best examples of this style of music are New Order, Depeche Mode, and Ace of Base. Many of the bands that were around at that time are no longer around, however, the ones that are around consistently hit the charts with their newer hits. Synthpop may have lost some of its momentum, but it is still a force in the industry.
