Russian folk music is folk music over a large area of land and is more diverse than most in that the regions are numerous enough to make this more a genre with multiple subgenres. There are many areas that have developed variations of folk music that are unique to that area, yet may have some ties to the areas neighboring them. Russian folk music is one that covers a more broad area than most other forms of folk music.
