A political neologism is a new word or phrase used to express a political concept, opinion, preference, agenda, or criticism. A neologism is marked by not being in widespread use, or not being considered a standard expression. Like most neologisms, a political one is not sedimented in culture until it is considered the 'natural' way to express a thought. It is often pointed out that phrases such as left-wing, right-wing, non-sexist language etc, were all neologisms at some point, though they are now part of everyday speech.
