From ArticleWorld
Nucleic acids are high molecular weight biomolecules. They are considered to be macromolecules due to their long chains of nucleotides. Nucleic acids may be single strand or double strand. The nucleic acids of major interest are deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA). DNA is usually double-stranded whereas RNA is usually single-stranded. These nucleic acids are the major molecules of inheritance however RNA may also be utilized as an enzyme.
