Malnutrition occurs when a person’s body is not getting enough nutrients because of an inadequate diet, digestive problems or a medical condition. A considerable problem nowadays due to war, poverty and natural disasters, it is estimated that about 800 million people around the world are malnourished. It can lead to stunted growth and intellectual development, deficiency diseases such as beriberi and scurvy and, if serious enough, to death from starvation.
