An injury represents any kind of damage done to a structure, organ or function of the body, caused by an external agent, either physical or chemical.
Physical agents may include contondent objects, exposure to extreme cold or heat, while the chemical agents include exposure to powerful acids or harmful vapors.
Some injuries may be common for certain occupations. These are called occupational injuries. Others may be caused by the overuse of a certain structure, and they are called overuse injuries, like Achilles' tendon rupture.
