Infectious skin diseases are skin conditions which can be passed on from one person to another. Their causes include fungal infections such as athlete’s foot and ringworm, viruses such as those responsible for herpes zoster or shingles and mites which can cause scabies. Infections can be passed on through actual skin to skin contact or by the use of communal area such as dressing rooms.
