Funk music is the next step in music after soul music. It has a rhythm of 3 against 4 beats and is lined with heavy and thick bass. It has one of the most distinct of styles and has been made into what it is be certain key members of its genre, such as James Brown. Much of what the music is has been around since the early portion of this past century. It is one of the base genres that many others have offshoot from.
