The Economy of France is very well established, being the fifth most powerful in the world (also it has slided down in recent years). As part of the Euro zone, it has a stable monetary and fiscal environment. One of the top priorities of the french governement is to reducing the high unemployment rate (9%-10%). In January 1999 France adopted the Euro as a national currency. It has been administered by the European Central Bank ever since.
