Candlebox is a post-grunge band from Seattle, Washington and has had a fair amount of dispute on their style. They formed in 1991 during the grunge era in the capital of grunge. They were originally known as Uncle Duke and were view as less of a band for not being a true grunge band.

Not grunge in grunge
They thought of themselves as a rock band and not a grunge band. Their music was reflection of this. They were eventually supported as the rock band among the grunge bands in Seattle. This was a process, but they were eventually accepted as the different ones.
Success in albums
Their debut sold more than four million copies and they were a success with their self titled album. They peaked at number seven on the Billboards album charts and the second album, Lucy, was also a success. They were the first successful album on Madonna’s label, Maverick Records.
Live shows
Candlebox was known for their explosive live shows all throughout their career.They toured with such bands as Living Colour, Our Lady Peace, Henry Rollins, and Metallica. They were also a featured band on the main-stage at Woodstock '94.
Replacements
Scott Mercado left the band, in 1997. He was replaced by former Pearl Jam drummer Dave Krusen. Krusen would later leave the band, in 1999. He was then replaced by Shannon Larkin of Ugly Kid Joe.
Bardi Martin also left the band,in 1999, and was replaced by Rob Reddick, formerly of Dig.
2005
Kevin Martin is currently recording and performing as the leader of The Hiwatts. Peter Klett is recording and performing as the leader of redlightmusic.
Currently
Candlebox has reunited with their original line-up. They will be embarking on a three-month North American tour beginning on July 1st. This marks their first collaboration since 1996, if this will be more than just a tour is to be seen.
Candlebox also released a "Best Of" album on May 23, 2006.
