Brad Pitt was born on December 18, 1963 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to strict, Southern Baptist parents. He spent most of his formative years in Springfield, Missouri where he attended high school and then the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Unfortunately, he never completed his journalism degree at U of M and opted instead to pursue acting in California.

Early days
Upon arrival in California, Pitt initially supported himself in various jobs including: chauffeur, furniture mover and as the mascot for El Pollo Loco. He finally caught his break in acting during the late 80’s by obtaining roles on such primetime hits as: Dallas, 21 Jump Street (with fellow thespian, Johnny Depp), Growing Pains and Head of the Class. He received a starring film role in the movie The Dark Side of the Sun and later a supporting role in Thelma & Louise. This would open up many more doors for Brad in the realm of acting. He may best be known for his role in Robert Redford’s film “A River Runs Through It” where he portrayed Paul MacLean – the rebellious brother of Norman MacLean (author of a book by the same name).
Social causes
Amidst his wildly successful film career, Brad Pitt is grounded by the worthy causes that he supports. He has publicly supported the fight against disease, poverty and environmental decline. In addition, he is an advocate of AIDS research and is actively involved as the spokesman for the ONE Campaign – which sends aid to Africa.
Romance
In his personal life, Pitt has been involved in several long-term relationships over the years. He was engaged to Gwyneth Paltrow in 1996, but they split up a year later. As usually is the case with “A” list stars, such as Brad Pitt, the engagement and split was widely covered by the tabloids. Tabloid coverage was no less massive when Brad married actress, Jennifer Aniston in 2000. Having their relationship constantly in the spotlight, undoubtedly put strain on the relationship in addition to other problems they were having. Aniston and Pitt later divorced in 2005.
Brad is currently dating Angelina Jolie and has been since his split with Aniston. It is believed that they began their relationship while filming the 2005 movie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, while he was still married to Aniston. However, this theory is complete speculation. He is currently in the process of trying to adopt Angelina’s 2 children, Maddox and Zahara.
Future outlook
Pitt’s film career will very likely continue its upward swing with the 2006 release of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (currently in post-production) and his upcoming films Chad Schmidt and Babel (which he is currently filming) also set for release in 2006. He is slated to star in Benjamin Button, due for release in 2007.
