Bigod 20

Bigod 20 was a German band that formed in 1988 and released 11 CDs of electro industrial music. This music set the standard for club industrial music. The band was made up of Andreas Tomalla, also known as Talla 2XLC, and Markus Nikolai, who was also known as Jallokin.

The Beginning

During 1988, Talla and Jallokin utilized Talla’s record label Technodrome Records to release the single Body to Body under the name of Bigod 20.This record label of Talla’s would later become the legendary record label Zoth Ommog Records that produced a large number of underground bands’ albums.

Sire Records

In 1990, Bigod 20 released The Bog through Sire Records, this single was an utter hit and became a worldwide dance club favorite. The title track for this single has a guest vocalist in the lead man for Front 242, Jean-Luc De Meyer.

In 1991, the duo joined up with Thomas Franzmann, also known as Zip Campisi. They released their first real full album in Steel Works! This album spawned two singles: On the Run and It’s Up To You. It was in the single On the Run that contained a special cover of Madonna’s hit song Like a Prayer. This single has been played in dance clubs throughout the world.

In 1994, Bigod 20 released their second full length album in Supercute. This one album had a single as well, One.


Bigod 20 set the standard for many bands that would follow after them and also set the standard for industrial songs that were deemed dance worthy. Many bands have emulated their style and have tried to follow their path of success, but only a rare few have been able to achieve some of the claim to fame that Bigod 20 experienced. Even after all these years their music is still played in certain dance clubs.
