Baby care

From ArticleWorld

Baby care refers to what is involved in caring for a very young child. The application of baby care can be found in the attention the health, maintenance, welfare and protection of infants. It is associated with early childhood development and education.

Importance

With proper baby care, one can ensure that a child experiences optimal growth and development. This involves five main areas:

  • Physical development, which focuses on the physical growth and the development of motor control.
  • Sensory and perception development, which emphasizes how a child functions with his or her senses and his or her ability to process information.
  • Communication and language development, which uses visual and sound stimulation and language acquisition. It also involves the exchange of feelings and thoughts.
  • Cognitive development, which involves how the child thinks and responds.
  • Emotional development, which measures a child’s increased awareness and control of feelings.

Baby care and intellect

Recent studies on the brain development of infants show that most of a person’s neurons are developed up to the age of five. For this reason, if a child is unable to receive sufficient nuturing, nutrition and interaction with his or her caregiver, he or she may face future developmental deficit that will hamper success in later education.

Regulations

There are endless resources for parents and caregivers that will help them determine the best way to care for their babies. Pre- and post-natal courses and sponsored events abound. For this reason, it is expected that parents take proper care of their children. Most local, regional and national governments have strict laws regarding the care and treatment of infants – and all children for that matter.
