This style of music is an orthodox style that has been inspired by the works of two musicians. This style is one that breaks many of the standards that are the norm for most music.

How it is broken

The typical song is in 12 notes per octave, alien rock seeks to break this rule and in essence this is where the name comes from. Alienating the standard of music to create a new genre and style.

Instruments

Most of alien music is performed on electric string music and is typically hard to comprehend to the regular ear as it is typically played fast and aggressively. This makes the music sound slurred and it becomes the music that builds the intensity and not individual notes.

Fathers of alien music

Victor Wooten and Jaco Pastorius are deemed the fathers of alien music and are the ones that made this style possible with their own styles of performing music. Both have a level of skill in their music that makes this off shoot elementary.

Wooten

Victor Wooten is considered to be the Michael Jordan of electric bass guitarist. He is one of the best, if not the best, of his instrument to come from the 1990’s timeframe. He has been in a number of bands and has shown progressively the level of skill he has in this progression.

Many view him as a prodigy of the electric bass guitar. This has become a standard that only he has been able to obtain for this instrument. Few can match his talent and the speed that he can perform melodies.

Pastorius

The late Jaco Pastorius was a talented electric bass guitarist and was the one that made it an instrument that was to be a standard in many older genres and the ones that were to come to be. He was very influential to many performers and was involved with many of their project up to his dead. He died due to mental ailments and has been honored by Miles Davis and Marcus Miller when he passed away.
